Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is an advanced, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate the body's natural healing response.

Shockwave therapy has become one of the most researched treatments for chronic tendon injuries and persistent musculoskeletal pain. It works by increasing blood flow, stimulating tissue regeneration, promoting collagen production, and reducing pain sensitivity.

I treat with the OMNIWave™, an electrohydraulic shockwave system and the most advanced form of the technology available for musculoskeletal care. Its focused waves reach deeper structures that hands and tools cannot get to — and most people find it noticeably more tolerable than the radial units used in a lot of clinics.

Conditions commonly treated

Plantar fasciitis
Achilles tendinopathy
Tennis elbow
Golfer's elbow
Patellar tendinopathy
Rotator cuff tendinopathy
Calcific shoulder tendinitis
Hamstring tendinopathy
Hip pain
Chronic muscle injuries
Scar tissue and soft tissue restrictions

Benefits

Accelerates healing
Improves circulation
Stimulates collagen production
Reduces chronic pain
Breaks down calcific deposits
Improves tendon healing
Reaches deep structures manual therapy cannot
More comfortable than traditional radial shockwave
Non-invasive with minimal downtime
Helps avoid injections or surgery in appropriate cases

Shockwave therapy is most effective when combined with progressive rehabilitation and strengthening to maximize long-term outcomes.

What to expect

  1. 1

We confirm it is the right tool

Every course starts with a movement assessment and hands-on exam. Shockwave is excellent for stubborn tendon pain and poor for a lot of other things, so I check that your injury is one it actually helps — and look for why the tissue stopped healing on its own.

  2. 2

    Targeted acoustic waves

A handheld OMNIWave™ applicator delivers focused pressure waves directly into the affected tendon or soft tissue. The treatment itself is quick: most areas take five to ten minutes of hands-on applicator time.

  3. 3

    Delivered inside your full hour

Shockwave is not a drop-in, get-zapped-and-leave appointment here. It runs inside your 60-minute one-on-one session, and the rest of the hour goes to manual work and loading the tissue so the stimulus turns into real capacity.

  4. 4

    What it feels like

Most people describe a firm tapping or thumping over the area, intense but tolerable. The energy level is adjustable and I set it to what you can handle that day. No anesthesia and no downtime — you walk out and get on with your day.

  5. 5

    A short course, not forever

Chronic tendon cases usually respond over a handful of weekly sessions rather than months of care. After your assessment I will give you an honest estimate and clear milestones, and we adjust as your symptoms change.

Frequently asked

Shockwave Therapy questions

It depends on the tissue, how long it has been going on, and how you respond. Chronic tendon problems typically need a short course of weekly visits rather than a single treatment. Some people notice a change after the first session; others build improvement gradually. You will get an honest estimate after your assessment, not an open-ended package.
